renderstreet studio upload is easy

renderstreet studio was great; uploaded my 1.2 GB .blend file in about 14 minutes, batch rendering was fast once it started. the $25 credit helped too.

Good performance, some upload issues

I used RenderStreet for a Blender animation rendering project last month. The project involved a fairly complex scene using the Cycles engine. Setting up the project through their web-based management was straightforward, and I appreciated the plugin support; it handled all my assets without issues. The actual rendering with their GPU nodes was quite fast, definitely quicker than what I could do on my local machine. My main gripe was with the FTP upload for the large .blend files. It was a bit finicky and took longer than I expected for a professional service. Customer support was helpful when I reached out about it, providing some tips that eventually got it through. Overall, the quality of the final frames was excellent, and the render times were impressive once the files were uploaded. Just wish the initial file transfer was smoother.

Affordable Blender rendering

As a first-time buyer on a tight budget, I was looking for the best value for my Blender cloud rendering. I got some starting credits which really helped offset the initial cost. I used it for a small animation rendering project, and the price per frame was totally worth it compared to buying new hardware or waiting days for my old PC. The volume rendering discount they offer also seemed like a good deal if I had a bigger project. Felt like a smart move for my wallet.

Easy to use for my Blender scenes

Needed to render a bunch of Blender scenes and my computer just couldn't keep up. Tried RenderStreet for some GPU rendering. It was pretty easy to get my project uploaded and started. Finished way faster than I thought it would. Saved me a lot of time.

Solid render farm, could improve UI

I recently used RenderStreet for a Modo cloud rendering task, specifically for an architectural visualization project. The V-Ray for Modo rendering was robust and delivered high-quality output, which was great. The cost per server hour felt reasonable for the performance I received. However, navigating the project management interface felt a little dated. It's functional, but not as intuitive or modern as some other services I've used. I also had a small question about their NVIDIA L40s GPU nodes and their exact specs, which wasn't immediately clear from the site; a bit more transparency there would be nice. Delivery was on time, so no complaints there. A good service overall, just needs a UI refresh.

Thinking of trying out RenderStreet for a Blender project. How long does it usually take for something pretty involved, like a 10-second animation with lots of cycles samples?

L Lisa Walsh 2 months ago
It really depends on your scene complexity and how many frames. I've had simple stuff render in minutes, but a 30-second animation with heavy Cycles took a few hours even with their fast GPUs. You can kinda estimate it with their calculators on the site, I think.

Yeah, I did a 200-frame architectural viz scene last month and it was done in under an hour on their high-end nodes. Way faster than my home PC lol.

What's the deal with the pricing? Is it like, pay-as-you-go or do they have monthly plans? And is there any way to get a discount when you first sign up?

L Laura H. 2 months ago
They have both! You can do pay-per-hour or get a 'RenderStreet One' subscription which is like unlimited monthly rendering for a flat fee. New users usually get some free credits to start, like 5-10 bucks sometimes.

Yeah, check for a first project credit. I got like $10 when I first made an account, which covered a good chunk of my initial test renders.

Are their GPUs actually good? My home setup takes ages for Blender Cycles, wondering if it's worth it over just buying a new card.

P Phil Torres 2 months ago
Oh yeah, they have NVIDIA L40s which are super fast. Definitely way better than what most people have at home. Made a huge difference for my render times.

I've only used their CPU rendering for Modo, but my friend swears by their Blender GPU options. Says it's a night and day difference.

Can I upload really huge .blend files? My scene is like 10GB with all the textures and assets, wondering if that's gonna be an issue.

T Tara V. 2 months ago
No problem, they use FTP for large file uploads. It's usually pretty quick, just make sure you zip everything up properly before uploading.

I've uploaded projects bigger than that, you just use an FTP client. It's actually pretty convenient.

i'm a student trying to render my final project for architecture class, do they have any student discounts or anything like that?

F Faith Doyle 2 months ago
AFAIK they do have a student discount program! You usually have to apply for it with proof of enrollment. Worth looking into on their site.

Yeah, I got a student discount a while back. It's not huge but every bit helps when you're on a budget.
